Another Travesty for America the Beautiful
Today I heard one of my neighbors, a staunch Republican say, "I wish Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schummer would die from this coronovirus." I could hardly believe it, not so much that he said it, but that he meant it. But then why shouldn't he, the head of his country says much worse things.
Donald Trump had five deferments from military service, four for college and the fifth because of bone spurs. While other young men went off to the Vietnam War Donald Trump graduated and worked for his father.
That is neither sad nor bad, it is what it is. You decide how Donald Trump failed to join the military. The doctor who gave him the diagnosis of bone spurs just happened to rent his office from Donald's father, Fred. Oh and it just so happens he outgrew his bone spurs. What is an American travesty is that on July 20, 2017 the President of the United States met with the Joint Chiefs of Staff inside the famous "Tank" a secure room in the Pentagon. The room was full of high-profile U.S. leaders who have since left the Trump administration: then Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Joseph Dunford Jr., then deputy defense secretary Patrick Shanahan, Vice President Mike Pence, then Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, then White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and then Director of the National Economic Council Gary Cohn. Leaders from every military branch were present as well.
In this meeting Trump had a meltdown and called his Joint Chiefs of Staff babies and dopes. He said they were losers and didn't know how to win anymore. Then the truth came out about how Trump thinks the United States military should be used, for money. Trump thinks South Korea should pay us “rent” for U.S. military forces positioned there and suggested that NATO countries owed America direct payments totaling hundreds of millions of dollars, a claim that left many in the room confused. Trump also demanded to know why we didn't recieve payment in oil. He asked why Middle East nations weren't giving the U.S. oil in return for American troops. 'We spent $7 trillion; they're ripping us off,' Trump said. 'Where is the f***ing oil?'
The only person in the room to respond to Trump was Rex Tillerson who said, "The men and women who put on a uniform don't do it to become soldiers of fortune," Tillerson reportedly said. "That's not why they put on a uniform and go out and die ... They do it to protect our freedom."
Trump wants to make our military into a mercenary group, pay us and we will fight. What else can this deplorable man think of and what else will the Republican Party and his band of supporters let him get away with. Don't you let them do further destruction to our nation It is up to every citizen to fight back with a Democratic Vote in this November's election.
